Village of Morrice
With warm weather upon us the Village of Morrice would like to point out a few springtime reminders:
Pet owners are reminded that the Village has leash laws – owners are to be in control of their pets at all times. Please be courteous of others and clean up after your pets – take extra care to ensure that sidewalks and public walkways are clear of waste and debris.
Building & Zoning
Permits are required for any building and/or improvements made to all properties within the Village limits. Permits can be picked up at Village Hall or by contacting AGS – Building Department at (800)-627-2801. Permits must be obtained before any work is begun.
All property within the Village must be free of unsightly, unhealthy, or unsafe growth or grass, brush, weeds, dead vegetation, debris, or garbage.
Village DPW does not use the leaf vacuum in the spring – they will however pick up grass clippings, leaves, and yard waste placed at the edge of the street in brown paper bags. Small branches and brush – cut into 4 ft. or shorter lengths – may also be piled at the street edge
for pick up.
Collection day is Tuesday. Refuse must be at the curb by 8:00 a.m. There is a bag limit of 8 bags per week for regular service and 6 bags per week for senior service. Excess bags will be left unless pre-authorized by Granger. Bulk or large items require prior authorization from Granger.
By state law, yard waste cannot be mixed with household rubbish. Granger will not take bags that contain yard waste. Contact Granger at (888)-947-2643.
The open storage of old, discarded, or non-operating cars, unlicensed vehicles, tractors, machinery, car parts, household appliances, old metal, used lumber, debris, and other unsightly junk is considered a public nuisance and must be removed within (10) ten days or the property owner will be issued an ordinance violation citation. If removal, by the Village, becomes necessary it will be done at the property owner’s expense.
For more information you may contact Village Hall at 625-4170.
