REGULAR COUNCIL MEETING
MORRICE VILLAGE HALL
Tuesday, March 24, 2015
6:00 p.m.
Meeting was called to order at 6:00 p.m. by President Harold Dickerson.
The Pledge of Allegiance was recited.
Council Members Present: Harold Dickerson, Phyllis Dickerson, Christine Williams, Kim Kollek-Jewell, Cathy Mulholland, and Robert Gentner.
Absent: None.
Also Present: Police Chief: Matt Balsley, Attorney: John Gormley, and Clerk: Karen McGuire.

MOTION by Mulholland, seconded by P. Dickerson to approve the agenda. All ayes. Motion carried.
MOTION by Kollek-Jewell, seconded by Mulholland to approve the March 10, 2015 minutes. All ayes. Motion carried.

COMMITTEE REPORTS
9.1 Personnel / Police / Transfer Station / Insurance / Retirement
Chief Balsley reported that Reggie is doing well. He met preschoolers today at a school reading program and that went well. They are still working on certification. All is quiet in the Village.
9.2 DPW / Municipal Buildings / Park

9.3 Street / Sidewalks / Newsletter / Web Site

9.4 Sewer / Codes
No Report.
9.5 Zoning / Ordinances / Annex / 425 / DDA
No Report.
9.6 SSESA
Mulholland gave the run report for February. There were seven runs in the Village. For all of SSESA there were 129 runs in February and 289 runs year-to-date. The new fire truck will be ready in August and will cost approximately $512,000.00 – $513,000.00.
9.7 Homecoming
- Dickerson reported that there was a meeting today and things are going smoothly. The next meeting will be April 14th at 1:00 p.m. at Village Hall.

10.1 Park Agreement
Tabled.
10.2 315 N. Main
- Dickerson reported that he talked to P.F. Green and he said they will be starting demolition soon.
10.3 Meal and More Alley
Waiting for drawings and easement location from Meal and More.
10.4 Park – Plumbing
Kollek-Jewell reported that the concrete has been cut where the new plumbing will go. Perry Plumbing is cleaning that up and hopes to have the first phase done by Friday. The Committee wants to be able to show some progress at the Easter Egg Hunt. Drywall needs to be done and the fixtures put in place and then they can call Perry Plumbing back to finish up.
NEW BUSINESS
11.1 Officer Recommendation
Chief Balsley explained that tonight is Trenton’s last night on duty so they need to fill his spot. The Department has received some applications. Chief Balsley and the Personnel Committee interviewed Doulas Stanhope last week. He has a long history as an officer in Owosso – he started in 1986 – and just retired from there in January. He is looking for a part-time position to continue in police work. Chief and the Personnel Committee recommend hiring Douglas Stanhope as a part-time officer at $10.00 per hour.
MOTION by H. Dickerson, seconded by Mulholland to accept the recommendation of Mr. Stanhope.
All ayes. Motion carried.

- Dickerson announced that mail and other correspondence is on the table for review.
