Trash Rates Increase for Village

Residents who have their trash pick-up billed through the Village will see an increase in rates effective June 1, 2017. The Village contracts pick-up service with Granger Container Service who implemented a rate increase to our agreement on March 1, 2017. Due to that increase and other operating cost increases the Village must increase the cost to residents. Beginning with bills due on June 1, 2017 the standard rate will increase 77¢ per month and the senior rate (for those who have achieved the age of 60 years) will increase 57¢ per month. The new quarterly rates will appear on billings as $33.21 for the standard rate and $25.35 for the senior rate.

Also, beginning with sewer and trash bills due on June 1, 2017 the Village will begin implementing a late fee of 10% for bills not paid within 15 days of the due date. Additionally, any overdue balance will be assessed a 6% per annum interest charge.

One final note – sewer and trash fees are billed quarterly and due on the 1st of March, June, September, and December. They may be paid at the Village Hall – 401 N. Main Street, mailed to P.O. Box 315, dropped in the payment box at the Morrice Hardware Store or the drop box at the Third Street door of Village Hall. Sewer and trash bills are not routinely, nor do they need to be, added to the summer tax bills. In fact, only bills that are delinquent at the end of the first week of June are added to the summer tax bill. When a past due bill is added to the taxes an additional 8% administrative fee is assessed.
